The Katilo family began producing soft white cheese in 1910, which was named Damietta cheese. In the 1950s, the family started producing Roumy cheese, and in the late 1970s, the third generation adopted a scientific approach and modern technology in cheese production to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements. As a result, the factory became one of the largest dairy plants in the region.
